Hello!
I'm Kathleen Niemann. I recently moved to the beautiful Blue Ridge Mountains in Asheville, NC. Originally from Louisville, KY, I got started in the arts at the ripe age of two and a half when I took my first dance class. Like most younger siblings, I wanted to do everything my older sister was doing. So, I took my first acting class in 5th grade. After that I was hooked.
I studied all things performing arts in high school and went on to receive a B.F.A. in Acting with a minor in Dance from Ball State University. When I am not in rehearsal or on set you can find me doing yoga in the park, hiking, playing with my dog, creating art, or eating chocolate.
Current Projects
Agriculture: I am currently writing a new one person show about agriculture. Why a one person show about agriculture, you ask? You’ll just have to wait and see. In the mean time I spent a month living with an intentional community, Cambia, in VA learning about seed harvesting and sustainability, volunteered at City Farm Chicago and interned at The Talking Farm to learn as much as possible! Keep an eye out for updates!
The Midwives: I am a proud member of the creative community, The Midwives. The mission of The Midwives is to nurture the public creative spirit. We hope to bring forth new work and new voices by seeing everyone as an artist. My first term I worked with them I created a solo show, The One’s to Remember. My second term I honed in on variety and explored what being an artist meant to me. In this coming term I hope to develop stories about agriculture. Check out what the other artists are up to here!
Sleeping Willow Decor: In November 2020 I started a small business selling handmade macramé pieces. Check out my work and find out when I’ll be selling at in person Markets at Sleeping Willow Decor on instagram!
